I have just bought a 2006 Citroen C5 1.6HDi 16v VTR estate.
I don't have an owners handbook and am trying to figure out how to get the A/C working. I can get air coming out, but even with (what I assume to be) the temp at Min. the air coming out is always warmer than outside air. I am not sure whether this is because I am not using it correctly or whether it is indicative of a fault.
Thanks in advance or any help.

Re: Citroen C5 A/C
Regardless of system (Dual or Monozone), if the Air Conditioning button light is on, and the temp is set to cool you should be getting cool air. If not, it probably needs re-gassing, or there may be a leak in the system, or a compressor failure.
Best get it to an Air conditioning specialist first, who will be able to detect any leaks in the system before anything else.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a button labelled 'Air Conditioning' or anything similar

Now we can see the picture - it is the AUTO button. Pressing this means it is on Auto and will light up. That will maintain the selected temperature in the cabin for the left and right passengers according to the levels they have set. Press the CLIM button on the Head Unit to see the settings in operation on the multifunction display.

Go to the MENU button and select the Climate option, check "A/C Cut" isn't enabled.

Re: Citroen C5 A/C
"A/C Cut" is disabled.
Pressing the CLIM button doesn't do anything. I can access the Climate option from the MENU button... is that the same destination or am I missing access to some settings?
With AUTO on I still don't get cold air... so unless there are some important settings I haven't accessed, I am guessing it needs regassing?

Make sure to go to a proper a/c capable garage. Places like Halfords just add gas to the a/c system. Specialists will evacuate and separate the original contents of the a/c system, put a vacuum test (to test for any leaks) on for twenty minutes or so, then add in the oil, U/V dye and refrigerant. The process should typically take an hour or so.

As MikeT suggested, go to the MENU, check that the A/C Cutis NOT enabled first of all. You should be able to select and change settings, using the scroll wheel on the right hand stalk and pressing the button on the end of the stal to change options. I had the RT3 Navidrive Colour system, so it was a little different to your setup. Once you have made sure tha the A/C Cut is not Enabled, go back and press the AUTO button to see if the AC is working. If not, you will need to get it checked at an A/C place I suggest.

tbf, Kwik Fit, Formula One etc all do that. What they won't do is properly chase down and repair a leak though and may be tempted to still stick gas in a system that isn't fully holding vacuum, just to get the job done.
