Vacuum Converter Valve (Turbo)

Unread post by bigtone0777 »

Hi Guy's, I've had some great help so far on here on my other thread but I'm needing some specific advice about this part. It seems to go by many names including Vacuum Converter Valve, Pressure Converter Valve, Turbo Boost Pressure Valve, Vacuum Solenoid..........so confusing! The Citroen part number is 1618QK for those that may be able to look it up.
Anyway, I have constant vacuum at the pipe which connects to the turbo wastegate actuator (tested with someone revving the car while I check the pipe with my finger as I don't have a vacuum gauge) which suggests to me that either this valve is faulty or the boost pressure sensor is faulty, does this sound right to people with more knowledge than me?

Oh and it's a 2006 Xsara Picasso 1.6 HDi VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Thanks in advance

Tony

Have you connected it to diagnose yet? What errors are you getting?
I have a similar thread on here. I keep getting depollution error and diagbox says the turbo is overboosting. It could be a number of things. The part you mentioned can he found elsewhere and is fitted to a number of engines (Ford focus for example)
Is your turbo on the front of the engine? If so get someone to start the car and the actuator should move

Hi Delvey, I have another thread up with the problem I'm having but I was just wanting to ask about this specific part in a separate thread to keep things tidy and easier for others to find if they have the same question.
Anyway, the codes I'm getting up are P0299, P3008 and P0100. The thread is here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=60588
I'm thinking of buying a better diagnostic tool which will read live data soon but was hoping to solve this problem while I'm waiting.

Thanks

I would definitely invest in diagbox
Mine cost £33 from eBay and it can give live reading as well as a host of other features.

^ For that price it is almost guaranteed not to be a full-chip kit. This can have comms issues on later full-CAN vehicles. If you are going to get one Tony I would suggest investing a little more and getting a decent one.

Thanks Guys, I'm looking at the Delphi DS150e at the minute as I'd like to use it on other vehicles

I've now ordered the Vacuum Converter valve and will be with me tomorrow, I'll update both threads with the result once fitted.

The valve came in early so I had time to fit it before work but absolutely no change at all
