X7 couple of niggling faults
After exactly 3 years of pretty-troublefree motoring (car is LHD and is late 2009 excl. auto. 2.0Hdi 163) I am now seeing a few niggling problems and wonder where to start.
First, the passenger side wing mirror will not fold in. The glass adjustment works ok and the assembly does try to retreat, but won't fully fold in.
Next, the parking sensors are throwing up a fault. No idea why.
While I'm here, is there an easy fix for the rear screen washer pipework break?
Also I want to switch the rear tyres for the fronts (to even out wear). Can I just change the wheels round or will the pressure sensors get confused?

For the parking sensor issue, it is possible that water ingress to a wire on one of the sensors has occurred. If one goes out the system will deactivate or become intermittent.
You can put the ignition on with car in reverse and then carefully feel each sensor for a little vibration / pulsing. The one that isn’t is likely the duff one. Or if you have Diagbox, it will tell you which one is faulty.
There’s a thread here somewhere on the rear tailgate washer pipe issue.
The mirror can play up every now and then, but it may be worn at the plastic gearing. Does it try to fold and if so does it make a grinding or snapping noise? We had one play up on the C3, I think I over lubricated it with silicone spray and that worsened the folding. Eventually. Months later it settled down and is working again.
You should be able to move the wheels to the front ok, but I’ll check when I’m back on the desktop

Ok, update Roger - having just checked the X7 tyre pressure monitoring system, it would appear that if rotating the wheels, they do need to be prgrammed according to Citroen:

Lastly, I found some old thread with a few photos that I recreated and moved to a new topic in case it helps - concerning the washer pipe here:The spare wheel is not fitted with a transmitter module. When the wheels are rotated, it is necessary to programme the
position of the wheels using the diagnostic tool (Refer to the diagnostic tools documentation).

I now recall that in the past, that I had the garage take off and refit / rebalance the tyres from the rear to front. But this was rare as my fronts wore down so quickly I was getting front tyres every 4 months due to work travel and the roads here, so it was never an issue!

Re: swapping front wheels with the rears - I did it and have no problems that I know of. I was aware of the supposed need to re-pair the TPMS senders but decided to just try it and see what happened. Nothing so far some 18 months later.

I think the problem comes that individual valves are identified in specific locations, so if it registers a low pressure it will indicate the wrong wheel. So, no problem, until there is one IYSWIM! If the alarm comes up, but indicated wheel is normal, then make sure to check the others as the valve may be elsewhere!!

That makes sense! IIRC there's only one receiver for the TPMS signals on the X7.

Yes one receiver unit and aerial in the rear. The system measures pressure, temperature and acceleration in the tyre and there are 7 versions of ECU to cope with the different tyres and engines.

You don’t get to see the pressures or temperature Elis, only whether the tyre is deflated or punctured.
There is a temp and pressure sensor fitted to the wheel transmitter module and the transmitter antenna is in the wheel valve. The movement sensor uses centrifugal force to detect movement. There are 3 modes, driving, stop and parked. It uses the sensor info to determine which mode is active which determines the frequency of signal transmission etc.

Hi, I am surprised that your rear washer pipe work has lasted so long.
Be careful not to lose the end that comes from the end of the car roof. You can repair the black plastic ribbed pipe by either finding some plastic tube (warmed in a cup of hot water) that it will push into and sealed with araldite or superglue. The additional length should put less stress on the existing black pipe.
Or if you have any small bore copper pipe used for the repair of Xantia hydraulics you will find that it is a watertight fit pushed into the existing (with superglue and the flow seems OK.
A quick check on the wing mirror could be the door connector. I blame my passengers for the merciless door slamming that they do.
Slide the grey plastic "C" Clip up and separate the connector. One finger or a screw driver blade will move the clip.
Work the connector in and out preferably with proper electrical connector cleaner (not WD). It worked for me.

My wing mirror problem has vanished!! This is after 3 months or so with it stubbornly staying folded in when I locked the car. A few days ago a friend was showing me his newly-acquired van and pointed out that one of the wing mirrors had broken plastic and needed repairing. I pointed to my C5, parked down the road and said 'watch this-- the mirror won't fold out when I unlock'. I pressed the key button...... bu**er me, it folded out! Since then it has behaved perfectly. No idea what could have caused this.

Ah, you have one of the very few Citroens with the "Embarrassment System" circuits fitted. This system will do something that winds you up, but when you take the car in for repair everything works perfectly.

It's happened on our C3 Roger. I think it initially got out of synch and there is a procedure to re-synch it. I had mild success and think I may have over-lubed it with the old silicon spray.
