Couple of questions re. C5 X7 auto 2009 exclusive.

How do I know when it is time to attend to the hydraulic system? When I bought the car (mid 2015) the mileage was
123 000; now 142 000. There are no leaks but I am not sure that everything is 100%. I do take the car up and down a couple or three times each month (approx.), (but no turning of the steering wheel). The ride does seem a bit hard to me; I live in the country and the roads are a little uneven. And how do I know whether or not to change spheres? I can see no mention in the service history paperwork relating to the suspension.

The next query :- I replaced all 4 tyres two years ago and now the fronts are of course more worn than the rears. Is it right that I can't just change front wheels/tyres to the rear and v.v., because it will mean I have to tell the car's electronics about the changing of the wheels' pressure sensors being in a different place? Or is it merely necessary to 'recalibrate' by ensuring that the pressures in fronts are the same and ditto for the rears?

As an aside, I see you can now buy valve caps that wifi to a hand unit in the car when a tyre pressure is down. And only about £25 (I think) for 4 caps and the hand unit!

I had also heard that it's not advisable but I swapped the fronts to the rears early last year to equalise the wear and had no problems that I know about. I changed the pressures appropriately and everything just worked as previously.

I much prefer to replace all four tyres at the same time. It would be ridiculous if that option were to be removed.

Surely as long as you change the fronts and rears together there's no problem. The weight distribution isn't 50:50 on a car so front-back shouldn't matter?

With regards the firm suspension, it's worth checking the ride height and see if it's riding too high. This was the case with mine and it rode really hard and was uncomfortable.

Fronts to rears is ok, we always did that but watch out for 'directional' tyres and keep them to the correct side.
