I found a flaw in the Activa system...

Unread post by 9000se »

I really like it so far (always like weird cars!), even on a bumpy fast corner, it still keeps its composure...

However, I have found a flaw in the system, but no biggie because only happens in slow speed.

I notice that, driving from the main road to the side road where in some junctions, the end of the side road is raised up to connect the pavement (raised level) to the road (lower level), the Activa doesn't cope quite well because of the tensed up ARB when turning and it just hopped on the raised it of the side road...

Other than that - brilliant car.

Interesting.... I must admit that in a good ten years of Activa ownership I never experienced this....

Not sure whether what you describe is particularly an Activa fault. The one thing even a properly functioning Hydractive system is not good at dealing with is a very sudden vertical change of level, running transverse. The downward thud (when coming off a raised ridge) can be worse that climbing up it, but both can be pretty unpleasant.

Undulations, of any type, should be no problem at any speed - but lateral ridges (even a couple of cm) are its acknowledged weak spot.

Because it has got a thorn in one paw and needs you to pull it out!

Managed that back in the day at the garage by accidentally driving a bit too far forward and driving one front wheel onto the ramp into the workshop a bit without noticing.
