Citroen: Heavy loads, best way to park up

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

Heavy loads, what is the best way to park up for a couple of days.

Was just wondering...Assume a big load in the car

Is it best to set High, Normal or Low if you are going to leave the car for a couple of days loaded (tyre pressures can be increased) or does it make zip all difference ?

I would say leave at normal height. At high or low, the weight won't be evenly distributed between right and left (especially on uneven ground).

A couple of days? Normally, just leave it as is.

Just how heavy?

It really is an "open question" (regarding weight) but as I transport Cast Iron Radiators I often "Max-Load" it :)

I’ve just lugged back 12 x 25kg bags of stone, 10 paving slabs, turf and bits, - great comfy ride back home with the extra weight, but after the recent front strut replacement pain, didn’t fancy leaving it overnight.

If you're really worried then take the suspension to maximum height and then put four axle stands underneath. Make sure they're under suitably tough load bearing areas, lower the car on to them and then leave the wheels, if not dangling, with little weight on them.

As long as the car isn't over it's max design weight, I'd simply not worry about it at all.
