Some interesting data from DVLA

Unread post by Richard_C »

I stumbled on a list of statistical tables issued by DVLA, link here:

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/up ... -index.ods

(the .ods extension is open data spreadsheet so it will open in excel or almost anything else)

As you go down the list you think "oooh, that looks interesting". The only one I have dug about in so far is the SORN by make and model. I guess that includes unsold cars sitting in dealers various, plus the ones that people are restoring, repairing or just not using at the moment. Some are likely to belong to users of this forum. I was surprised by how many there are of some models, I wonder if people just SORN, put in shed and forget for a few decades. Some of the figures look barely believable - are there really 227 AX "Spree" rotting away quietly somewhere, hidden behind a huge pile of Saxos perhaps .....

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/up ... eh0121.ods

Some DS models show up as a subset of Citroen, others as DS in their own right if you scroll down.

Will the owner of the Ami 8 Luxe centrifugal please stand up ........

If you're able to open it in Excel, any chance of a link to such a file, as I'm only getting a load of this

I think you've run into source data used by third party websites like howmanyleft, howrareismycar, and similar.

The other day I found info on the .gov website about these various apps, but the pages seem to have been updated, =removed, since then, and you instead a page that there have been updates.

I wonder if other changes might be why the third party websites such as howmanyleft don't have info yet on the last two quarters.

I'm sure it is the source data used by other websites. Away at the moment will try to answer queries when home in a week or so.

I don't have an issue with it - if anyone wants the spreadsheet emailing, just tell me what spreadsheet software you have and I should be able to export it for you.

Maybe it is just me but it is a heap of random symbols Marc
Tried a screenshot but it is too huge to post and the GIMP isn't helping.

ETA: the second one is legible.
