ECU BSI Set

Post by Daz3nt »

If I buy an ECU BSI keys and lock set do all of the numbers on the ECU have to match up or just be similar? the part number (EDC15C2) is the same but the other numbers are slightly different. they both come from the same make and model but the car the parts are coming from is 2002 and my car is 2005.

You need to ensure you get the identical parts, as there are different injection ECUs depending on engine type, so you can’t just fit one from another vehicle unless it has the same engine variant.

Post or PM your VIN of the car you need replacements for if you’re not sure and I can tell you injection type and engine.

You won’t need door locks if you have a key from the original vehicle, you can just transplant the key blade into the new fob.

I've changed the ECU BSI and tronsponder chip, initially I had the Ecu repaired but it still had problems so I replaced both

You can try reprogramming the keys with Lexia, but you will need the ORIGINAL confidential code from the donor car. The procedure is straight forward.

Although the transponder chip is being recognised because you transplanted it from the old car, you are using your old fob that was programmed with the old code, so the new BSI is not recognising the code from the old car. It has to handshake.

Hmmm.... Well, the scrappy should have a record of the vehicle when it was scrapped. So you should be able to get something in writing from them or a copy, as Citroen will be able to get the confidential code for you, on receipt of proof of ownership, so if you have the invoice for the parts and something with the reg or VIN of the scrapped vehicle, they may well provide this to you once they confirm it, obviously for security.

When you have the code, Lexia will ask you for this when you go into key programming. You’ll also have to programme all the keys in one session, as any not done in the one kit will be removed from the BSI and you won’t be able to start the car either.

Thank you so much for your help, I will contact the breakers on Tuesday and ask for the vin and/or reg, I have the receipt for Ecu and bsi. definitely worth a try. iv'e contacted a guy near me to see if he can extract it from the bsi he's quoted me £40 but when I first asked if he could do it the response was "Yeah should be able to" don't seem very confident.

I was going to suggest that as an alternative, but it’s not something we can go into here in any detail. Hopefully you can get the code, but just to warn you in advance Citroen may charge, usually £15 to get the info for you. Just so you are aware. Might be worth calling them first, I see you are in Swansea, so give bassets a call and speak to parts. Explain the situation and ask them what evidence they will accept and confirm the charge.

That way you’ll know if it’s worth bothering with getting the info, but you should be able to get your VIN from Lexia, as that will be stored in there.
