Well the steering rack has developed a weep from the pinion.
The only question I have is how long do I have until the reservoir need top up.

Another one to add to the Poll!!!! Aagghh sorry to hear about that Kenny. Mine was a slow weep until I got the Suspension warning on and then noticed the wet patch from where the car is parked. Trouble is there was old oil there from ages ago, but it will soon cost you in LDS and the air getting in causing all the micro bubbles or fizzing.
So a good bleed when changed. Just keep a litre of LDS in the boot, but once it starts it will just get worse.
What are you going to do? Are you going to get a new one or risk a ‘recon’?
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.
I'm going to try recon or may try scrapyards for newer model with modified rack ( RP no 98 014 154 80). Will save for new rack, looking on flea bay they are almost the same price as Citroen.
Will remove my rack done the Xantia before so not overawed by the prospect, but the weather is supposed to be COLD with some snow later in the week. Think I will start tomorrow to strip down and ready to put replacement rack on.
Will require serious grovelling to SWMBO to use her car to go to work plus we due to move house at end of April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ping !...... they survived many weeks in a pot of LDS with absolutely no noticeable ill effects. I'd be happy to use HNBR O rings if I needed to replace mine in the rack.

eBay !!
They were from an assortment I'd originally got for aircon work IIRC. They definitely weren't bought intentionally for steering rack work, but they seem to do the job !
Hopefully I can start stripping the car down to get rack off. I need it sort before the end of April as moving house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just spotted an earlier thread regarding replacement steering racks. A member called blizzard posted on 8 June 2017 a place who fitted a replacement rack for about £400. He seemed very pleased with price n result. Sorry can't seem to copy actual link as accessing site via my mobile.
Bandit
Thanks or that info Bandit, I've sourced another company who will supply a completely refurbish rack and give 3 year warranty with unlimited mileage.
The price £350 but includes surcharge which will be reimbursed when they received my rack
Will see what they are like and comment and provide a link later.

Well here's an update, I can't even get started diagbox and car are not communicating.
It works first time but thereafter no green comm's on laptop.
Also it's going into eco mode within 15 mins which I can't understand why. New battery with 14 - 15 v showing on multi meter.
So this is a cry for help.
Can anyone who lives reasonably close come and depressurise the system for me ?
or Is there a way to do the rack without depressurising or a manual way ?
I was hoping to have it done this weekend but it looks like a non start until this is sorted out first.

It's possible to manually depressurise the system. I'd need to look it up, but it's not difficult.
Someone - possibly me - will be along shortly with the instructions........
Will get back with the result and any tips whilst doing the repair for future reference.
