Xantia speakers/door

Post by Quackers »

I'm not sure if i just have rose tinted glasses from when i had all my previous Xantia's or if my C5's have spoiled me. I'm sure the Xantia speakers use to be half decent, but my current Xantia anything above volume 10 with base makes a lot of rattle and distortion i'm sure i use to get up to volume 15/16 on my old one without the sound going bad. It has the same stereo system as my last Xantia ( this one images/ext/7bf5a2861132651060e618e2b0f794a0 ). I'm not sure if its the doors rattling with age or if its the speakers.

Anybody else come across this problem with their Xantia? Was it the door panels or speakers that are the issue?

I’d suggest either quality of source audio recording, or the speakers may have been damaged / end of life.

My guess is that the speakers have disintegrated. My daughter's 106 had a similar problem, and it turned out that the rubber cone surrounds had rotted away. New speakers from Halfords transformed it. The speakers in my Xantia still sound very good indeed, so the system as designed is fine.

second the disintegrated speakers. found that it happens to series 2 xantias and exclusives. I had to put a set of after market ones in my xantias.
why?

Mine are original and still fine.
I have been using the stereo while messing with the injector pump and, because the weather was foul, I've been shuttung the windows and winding the volume up. Nevertheless, it does sound as though yours have given up.
If so, I'd be looking for the reason why.
You probably have water ingress into the door and it's getting on the speaker cone.
If so, the new ones won't last long, so you'll need to fix that first
