My 2001 2.0 HDI berlingo seems to be only happy when it has a fault.
fix one fault develop a new one with in 24 hours, this has happened for the last 11 faults lol
Treated her to a new door switch so my interior light would work now she is been a pig to start.
left work tonight engine stone cold, fired straight away then cut out less than a second later, fired straight away again cut out straight away did this 5 times then ran as normal.
She had new glow plugs less than 1000mile ago (all 4 where open circuit and she still started fantastic in -4c)
only thing I did notice the glow plug light did not light up at all
any ideas?

Re: Problem child berlingo
Its not uncommon for the glowplug light not to appear on an hdi.

Or for the glowplug light to be on for such a short interval if you were to blink you could easily miss it. The HDi engine is very good at starting (in most conditions), and the weather needs to be VERY cold for the HDI engine to need the glow plugs to help it start.

If it's Siemens injection, then suspect an air leak. If it's Bosch, then suspect the in tank lift pump. You would need to catch it on live data really to see what it was doing.

Re: Problem child berlingo
Well I plugged her in and do have a small handful of codes.
2 Egr ones the EGR and the air dosing thing have had both solenoids vacuum lines blanked of quite a few thousand miles ago the egr itself is not blanked just the vac lines
Diesel (RHY (VIN 6-8 = Engine code) - Siemens SID 801 - MT/AT)
DTC Description
P0124- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Intermittent
P0404- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance
P0402- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected
P0704- Clutch Switch Input Circuit Malfunction
Think I have sorted this one the switch had become detached from the pedal box

Re: Problem child berlingo
Cleared all codes done 60 miles since clutch and egr codes not come back, I suspect the egr codes maybes old ones as when I got the van someone had been monkeying about with the vacuum pipes and it was pulling the egr fully open on start up.
I have a new tps on order so that should clear that code, to be fair the van has done 180k so the throttle pedal has been pressed a couple of times.
As far as starting is concerned i have noticed with zero throttle she starts and runs great, with half throttle starts and runs greats, with a very light throttle she starts then cuts, so hopefully the tps will sort that
