What is this?

Unread post by rhillips »

Hi,

My wife was driving and heard something knocking, looked under the car and saw this hanging from our 09 Citroen C8.

Any ideas what it could be? She said the car was driving fine with no warning lights on the dash. It looks like a plug of some sort to me but have not had a chance to look until I am home, but some help identifying the thing would help understand how serious it is.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob, Welcome!

Can you confirm location on the car, and also what engine is fitted? Difficult to tell from the photos as they're a bit dark, but it looks like it's got fuel lines connected to it - on the 2nd photo there is a white clip to the top left which looks suspiciously to me like where it came from! It is obviously broken in anyway?

Hi Richard, thanks.

I did spot the drips and thought the same, but apparently no diesel smells or oily substances. It is in the middle of the car. Engine is 2.0L diesel.

You are right the clip does look likely to be involved.

That looks suspiciously like the diesel additive plug from the Eolys tank - as it also seems to be in close proximity to the fuel tank. However, if you can pop up or PM your VIN - it may make it easier to identify.

EDIT: Actually, on further investigation, I was close, but it now looks to be the differential pressure sensor and connectors:

Part 9 is the particle filter pressure pipe and 3 is the differential pressure sensor.

So it looks to have fallen off the mounting at part 4.

Ah yeah I see it now, will look and hopefully it just needs securing. Assuming it has not actually disconnected form anything

Just out of interest here - diff press sensor disconnected electrically but no fault / warnings on dash then?
Or does it take a few miles before it puts anything up?

It doesn't look like a differential pressure sensor, they normally have soft rubber push on pipes, not the click fit type.
Looks like it should clip onto the additive tank. I reckon its part no 1525X8 (sorry don't know how to post Citroen Service pics), Its listed as filler pipe joint.

So Wheeler thinks it is Part 45 - not that it is very clear from the diagram...

Although I can't see how these have come off to be honest - uness they were never put on properly in the first place???

Yes I reckon its no 45.
How do you post Citroen service diagrams??
As for it coming off, could be many reasons, something off the road hit it ? Ripped off driving over heavy snow ? Its normally the fuel coolers that get ripped off by snow on the C8’s right enough.

it is now secured but need to get under and have a real look. For part 45, I can't see the two cables/pipes attached to it in the diagram. But if it the mount in the original diagram sent by GiveMeABreak then the two cables are present

I've enhanced the original photo a bit, they're certainly pipes not wires on there, same clips as on the fuel pipes.

Still looks like part 45 to me, the pipes may show on a different diagram. It’s listed as a pipe joint, so makes sense that it probably has multiple pipes connected to it.
Does it clip onto the additive tank ?

Actually if you can post or pm your reg or vin number it will help getting the correct diagram and file out some of the other engines
