C3 Hand brake failed

C3 Hand brake failed

Hi guys. My C3 (60 plate) was recently reversed in to causing damage to the front bumper. The next day it was parked on my slightly inclined driveway with the handbrake on, the handbrake failed and rolled down the drive and across the road. Could the bump to the front bumper have caused this fault? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks!
