Xantia Series 1 heater panel bulbs

Hi all, I'm about to take my 1997 Xantia's instrument panel out to replace all the bulbs, several having failed. The lighting for the upper heater sliders has also gone, so I'll do the whole lot in one go while it's all in bits. I understand the instrument panel bulbs are R286 capless so I've ordered a bulk pack of those. Can anyone tell me what bulbs are used to light the heater controls, and how many there are, so I can buy some of those as well?

John, they look like R286 but are much shorter... You'll find an R286 will appear to fit but will foul the controls...

Also, they're welded to the cap carriers so you need ones with built in carriers too unlike the dash bulbs where the bulbs themselves will easily pull out of the carriers...

If nobody else comes forward in the next few hours I'll dig out the correct ones for you...

Brilliant, thank you. Now ordered from eBay. There seems to be an amazing number of other similar-looking bulbs in bulbholders, with slightly different shapes to the bases, various different colour codes and fractionally different numbers. Why, I wonder, does the world need so many different types? It all seems far too complicated!

Well and truly beaten to the punch on this one, i think there's a guide to replacing them in the "how to" section that made life easier when I did them.

Hopefully you've bought good quality bulbs (I went for Ring) as you don't want to be doing the job every year if it can be helped.
