Hi
I myself am leaning towards the 2.0 hdi engine but most cars here on the market that are good and fresh looking have 1,6 under the hood. So what do you think, should I wait for a good 2.0 or just go with one of these 1,6 hdi-s.

See my guide on the 1.6 HDi here: https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 11&t=49995
Important that it's been properly serviced, and avoid anything that is already showing signs of distress. They can run reliably to high mileages if a few basic steps are taken. My soon to be scrapped 307 has done 140k miles and is still on original turbo and EGR valve - the only engine work was a new set of injector seals at about 110k. The engine is still good, it's just everything else that is letting it down!

I would concur with Richard, the 1.6 engines can be OK if they have been looked after. Take a torch and look inside the oil filler for any signs of carbon granuals, if its nice and clean should be OK but you need to keep it that way.
If its the 2.0. 8 valve engine I think they are the best engines Citroen have ever made and will normally outlast the car and very rarely go wrong. My wife wanted a smaller car and we were looking at 206 estates which come with a variety of engines but I would only buy the 2.0. one.

Good guide. So the 8valve 1,6 hdi from 2011 and forward is almost problem free. Unfortunately these are out of my price range.
Yep I am going to do the same. I will skip the 1,6 this time.Peter.N. wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 11:35
