Citroen C8 Auto Issue

Hello,

This is my first post so, please go easy lol.

I have a C8 2.0hdi 56 plate auto that has done 109k.
Recently it has started to mess around when driving.
It starts to die in power/speed for a second but then gains it's speed again.
It has started to happen a but more regularly now.
When putting in reverse it has started to really jolt into gear.
Today, I decided to drive it in the semi auto mode and found out it will only go into 1st, 2nd and 3rd when dr8ving normally, no 4th.
When put back into full auto it feels like it tries to go into 4th but can't find it.
Snow light has been on but not flashing and that is probably because the weather has been down to 4 or 5 degrees outside.

Put a diagnostics on it but not a lexia one so nothing actually showed up wrong with it.

Can anyone shed any light on the issue?
Not sure what gearbox I have either, sorry.

Have thought about changing gearbox oil obviously but haven't done as of yet.

If you can post the VIN, then we can check the box fitted; however, this sounds like the classic AL4 valve block problem developing....

When you say valve block... bad/not so bad?
I'm pretty handy with a spanner, is it something I can do or is it off to garage time?

So you have the 2006 C8 FAMILY SALOON 2.0 HDi 110 particle emission filter 4-SPEED AUTOMATIC GEARBOX - with AL4 Auto box as Richard suspected.

I've seen their are plenty of issues related to this gearbox, if it is this valve block issue does it mean oh dear? Or is it a job I can do?

If you give it a little time, members who have experience with this type of gearbox will probably chip in.
