C15 clutch cable fitting

Post by moizeau »

My mates dad asked me to look at his clutch, the pedal stays on the floor, but the clutch works, doesn't scream or slip.To engage it he needs to lift it back up with his foot. He went to local garage who told him it needs a new clutch, surprise surprise, without even looking at it. I've taken the airbox off, released the cable off the arm and the cable doesn't slide at all. New cable required, not clutch. The cable seems to have a steel oblong loop on each end. My question is, are these easy to change, mainly referring to the pedal end. I can't find any reference to the job on here or elsewhere. I don't want to take it off before he gets the new part as the car still drives (for a while) but would like to be fully armed ready for it's arrival.

Thanks very much in advance

'spoze I'd better start the ball rolling on this one.

In preparation for replacing my clutch, I disconnected the cable but have no recollection of it, which rather suggests it's pretty straightforward.

As for the other end, when my accellerator pedal broke off, I chickened out of changing my pedalbox myself but not because of disconnecting the clutch cable, which appeared to be the usual awkward rather than difficult arrangement.

Thanks, I only got chance to have a brief look at the pedal end, due to kneeling in mud. So it should be just a case of placing the loop over the retainer, no springs or plastic bits to add to the 'enjoyment'. Thanks again
