C5 estate high level brake light on all the time

Unread post by red_dwarfers »

The high level brake light on the rear door of my C5 estate I've noticed is on all the time but it's very dim so I've not noticed it until I parked in a really dark parking spot!
If the door is opened, it doesn't change intensity. I noticed when walking towards the car after having left it parked for around 3 hours. When driving it stays the same dim intensity. When the brake pedal is pushed, the light comes on full brightness as expected.

Any ideas?

Has somebody fitted non-Canbus rated LED bulbs in the past? They tend to have a tendency to glow dimly all the time (although usually only for ten minutes after last activity before BSI shuts of current) under the low bulb-checking current.

The high level brake light is already LED. FWIW I agree that there will be a broken wire in the flexible loom.
