Xantia yom 2000 do not start

Hi all,
I have a citrone Xantia. year of manufacturing is 2000. Some times when the key is inserted to key barrel the yellow color key light or car door opened indicator is not displayed in the dash board. All other lights are on when key is in ignition Possition but the car wouldn't start.
If the yellow color key is displayed during key insert and ignition Possition, .car will start without issues. What can be the problem ?
Is it an issue with the immobilizer ? Can I remove immobilizer to clear the issue ?

Welcome! There can't be many Xantias in Sri Lanka! The immobiliser and the door signals are both controlled by the CPH unit; it's possible this may be playing up, but I don't know enough about how it works.... Some one else may.

Thank you for information. Yes there is only a few Citroens in Sri Lanka but there are Peugeots here. I hope someone will be able to help !

Having to think back here but from memory the key symbol is for the immobiliser , it should light up and then go off when the key is recognised.
Long shot but is there any difference if you lock/unlock the car on the key fob or if you lock/unlock the car using the key.
It could be that the battery on the key fob needs changing. Depending on how you locked the car may have issues when you unlock it.
It is a Citroen after all and electrics are what makes them interesting

Intermittent electrical faults in a Xantia (especially if they are temperature dependent) can be caused by faults in the fuseboard under the dashboard. Typically these are due to failed soldered joints, but require some skill to fix.

It could also be a failed wire or splice in one of the harnesses.

I would suggest that you should try to determine if the Engine ECU and CPH have all of the supply voltages present.

Thank you for the details. Car lock and unlock happens without any issue but hood lights do not work for door opening. I have located CPH and trying some tests as suggested by other forums. Would you be able to tell me the price of a CPH unit in case it is faulty and need replacement ?

Hi

You can find a used CPH out of ebay or other used parts on line shops, I found it for 15 euro and payed additional 30 euro for the express shipping. If you detach the CPH on the box there is a label with the model of the CPH. Use the model number when you search. Please note that on the CPH there is a chip the holds the immobilizer code. The code is read from the key and compared to the code on the chip and only if both identical the car will start. You have to detach this chip from the old CPH and move it to the replacement CPH. If you need I can post a picture of the CPH PCB and pointing on the chip to be replaced. You should have soldering skills to switch the chips.
