Hi all,
Car= 2 litre 8 valve volcane ZX
A couple of weeks ago my exhaust failed where it enters the backbox (corrosion). Thing is my independent citroen mechanic said it would be upwards of £150 to get the correct backbox and exhaust pipe to go into it (its one of the sportier ones). In the end I got it welded instead [:)], but I was wondering whether it would be possible to replace it with something much cheaper when it does give up the ghost?
Anyone have any experience of this?
cheers

Mechanics generally don't consider places like andyspares. They get all their exhausts from the same source, pay trade price and charge you retail and pocket the difference. That's why people end up with rubbish (IMO) like Timax which seem to be made of tin foil and last 1 day more than the warranty.
Dunno what A/S sell, but I use Bosal and have been very pleased with them for a variety of cars.

Ah - you have one of them there 'my mechanic' things. They are far more expensive to run than any Citroen [V]
