And how many eggs were laid?

No?
Too much Writing down there Dormouse...it was supposed to be Mental Arithmetic! and the rhyme ends with no repetition at the end but with a single partridge in a pair tree on the twelfth day! I tried doing it mental arithmetic but it gets very difficult that's why I asked the question to see if anyone else could do it. :-D

I can confirm that 364 is indeed the correct answer, and when you plot it out it is a satisfying number sequence with a short-cut if you spot it which makes it fairly straightforward mental arithmetic. All you have to do is focus on the 6th Day as a clue.

I've just seen this having been out of signal for a while. The question was asked on a quiz last night I believe with Jimmy Carr! My brain is also befoggled with an over indulgence last night so not one for me today!! :-D

As a general formula to calculate the total for a given number of days you can take this: Highest number times lowest number plus second highest times second lowest and so on until the numbers have all been used. Eg for 6 days the total would be:
Total = 6x1 + 5x2 + 4x3 + 3x4 + 2x5 +1x6 or simplifying where you have an even number of days 2x (1x6 + 2x5 + 3x4). For an odd number of days you would only add the middle number times itself once Eg for 5 days 5x1 + 4x2 + 3x3 +2x4 + 1x5 simplifies to 2x (5x1 + 4x2) + 3x3 !! :-D

One might want to question the use of the word simplifies!! :-D

Give me 2 minutes and I will do a pie chart and a bar graph

The key to a mental arithmetic answer is that the total of the gifts par/tur/fre/cal/gol/gee are the same as the subsequent 6 gifts. Just juggle in your head the total in the 12 days for the first first six gifts, then double it for the overall total.

Chart to follow makes it obvious

Subsequent to the original poser here we have the chapter and verse and a little more of the maths of the 12 days of Christmas gifts with a little bit about Triangular and Tetrahedral numbers. Also a general formula to calculate the overall total number of gifts for any number of days, for example were there to be 30 days or 365 days of Christmas gift giving on the same basis of gift giving as the original 12 days rhyme.
This is the formula which returns the total number of gifts for any number of days of Christmas following the pattern of the rhyme.
n x (n+1) x (n+2) ÷ 6 where n=number of days of Christmas
12 x 13 x 14 = 2184 ÷ 6 = 364 gifts
An even more difficult task for mental arithmetic, fingers and toes, or pencil and paper, or large spreadsheets, made easier by the formula.

So what is the total for a hypothetical 30 days of Christmas gift giving generosity :?:

Given away now you have the formula
Spoiler: show
30 x 31 x 32= 29,760 ÷ 6 =4,960 gifts

I have plugged my phone into one of the stereos. Normally I would plug a laptop in to it, which was it's intended purpose but the laptop near it has some kind of audio output disease. The internal speakers work fine but are at best laptop speakers.
It has been ploughing through a playlist of sorts, all sorts of random odds and ends and it occurred to me that I don't know what half of them are by the intro, have to wait up to a couple of minutes before I can name it (phone is out of sight). And they are all things I like a lot.
No wonder I was crap at the Heardle thing.

Not a particularly difficult quiz question that plenty of you will know the answer to, but a question nonetheless.......

Why did Citroen choose that particular numberplate to stick on their Oli ?

It is visually reversible, so photos/videos can be flipped from left to right without being obvious.
