Help with part ID please

Unread post by builderpaul »

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas,

I found a plastic part lying on my drive in the position my 2008 2.2 C5 Mk3 Tourer is normally parked. There is - P/E with the number 9655490480 below it, moulded onto the face of the part. The part doesn't appear to be damaged and looks like it's simply fally off. I've Googled the part number and checked the Citroen website, to try to find what it is, but I've drawn a blank. Can anyone help me out here please?

Thanks very much for any ideas, Paul

Hi Paul

These are actually 'Arm Hinge Protectors' I bought one of these as a spare (keep forgetting to have it fitted) after ATS lowered my car down on to the metal block on the testing ramp without moving the block inwards, so the car came down and the metal caught the plastic guard and cracked it - He put it back on with a cable tie - but suffice it to say I was not happy and another reason why I watch the bu**ers like a hawk at the MOT!

Here are a few pics of the part still in the bag - there are a few different part numbers depending on RPO:

Hinge Protector A.JPG
They fold over the arm like a clamshell to protect it -

They only cost £3.41 from Citroen inc. VAT and should simply clasp over the arm and snap together - you should have one on each rear wheel - if the other is missing too - then I would get them replaced as they do protect from the elements.

Here it is on Citroen Service, Part number 5: If you want the correct part for your car, just post up or PM your VIN as they are slightly different.

Wow Marc, that's a superb reply.

Thank you very much for taking so much trouble to get back to me so promptly and in such detail. As soon as the 10" of snow has disappeared from around my car I'll have a good look and refit this part.

Thanks once again and best wishes,

Paul.

No problems - like I said, if you find they are broken and you need the correct replacement part number, just let me know.
