That's a £4.51 increase. Blatant profiteering if you ask me
Positively horrific

It'll no doubt be age-related I suspect - It goes full circle, from high premiums for teenagers, then gets better going forward in years until the latter years and a perceived touch of the old 'Joe Biden's' shoves the premiums back up no doubt!

Not wrong there Marc, every year after you reach 70 they up it, I've got over fifty years no claims but even the little Zoe came in at £701.80 last year, EV plus older driver = high premiums no matter how much you shop around.

The thing that I find a little odd with my current insurers for the Kia is that every other quote from the usual comparison sites is about £100 more expensive. I've paid for my renewal as quickly and quietly as I can in case they realise they've made a mistake

The only tip I can offer, is get the comparison site quotes exactly a month before expiry of the old policy - anything too near renewal will see a guaranteed increase as they know you are getting short of time and desperate. I got caught out one year with the timings and with a few days to go before expiry - when I fished the quotes up that I had initially run weeks before every single one had gone up by about £60!

So undeterred that the bu**ers were going to get a free ride, I set the renewal to start another 10 days ahead and just kept her off road and used the other car. Sure enough, prices went back down. Pure profiteering

I am just about to renew the insurance on my Wife's Corsa, last year £146, this year £255! with same company (Beam), comparison sites were from about £20 more than the quote I got from Beam.. that's about a 42% increase!

I think Marc is right about the age thing, but apparently if your 'a Biden' is to find someone younger to add to the premium, they reckon it could bring it down, alas, I don't have anyone willing.

:offtopic: I'm thinking of going down to one car in the future if this keeps up. It costs over £1,300 a year just to keep both cars ready for the road (Tax, Insurance, Mot, and servicing - and that's with me doing the work), not including tyres and ad-hoc repairs.

We consolidated, as the X7 wasn't doing the miles and the battery just kept slowly discharging, so moved her on and the C3 to get the Aircross. But premiums are shooting up - after all, somebody has to pay for all the stolen Range Rovers and self-immolating EVs!

I'm thinking of having my son insure mine, he uses it 90% of the time anyway and it is almost always parked at his or where he works.
Went up significantly when I reached 75

The insurance almost doubled on both our cars last year, C5 diesel estates increased from about £250 to over £400. My wife is 80 this year and I am 85. I have been with Direct Line for a number of years as they have always maintained lower prices than those on comparison sites but I shall do some more comparisons this year.

One very minor effect of not having any accidents and having a good NCB is that you are statistically more likely to have an accident in the future. Bear in mind this is all about statistics and not your own driving capabilities - but if the average driver has a claim every 100,000 miles (that's a made up figure BTW) and you've not had a claim in 130,000 miles, then statistically you are due one and so are a higher risk.
Also - statistically - insurance compainies will always win in the end :-D

The tip about having a second driver on the insurance is a good one. I think they need to know that you have your own vehicle(s) and that they are the primary means of transport for the second driver.

I've been with Direct Line for years now, never found anyone to compete but I do have to challenge their first renewal quote and they always chop a chunk off when challenged.

I will try that Gibbo. I wasn't in a position to last year as I had to insure a car I was buying on the sellers premises so not in a position to argue then but I will this year.
