C5 x7 163 Diag
hi all, just spent an hour outside in the cold..
anything interesting below? The ride of the car has never quite been right to me, I have never (knowingly) experienced a re-gen, and recently I have noticed a slight misfire under slight loads, or rather a judder.. I dont know if this is engine or gearbox ....
Appreciate there are a few things at once there!
I have been using the spare wheel for a while, although now back to normal..

Re: C5 x7 163 Diag
I would be very impressed if you did notice the car re gening & that in my opinion is one of the biggest problems with DPF systems, you have no idea the regen is taking place which means you can interupt the process without realising which is not good. I know some manufacturers (Toyota for one) are now making you aware the regen is in progress & not to interupt it.

Re: C5 x7 163 Diag
The systems work slightly differently, depending on Engine type and Engine ECU John.
The system can memorise patterns of driving for the last 5 regeneration attempts and monitors levels of soot to determine when and how regeneration occurs.
If it still doesn't succeed with regeneration, then it sends a message to the screen - 'Risk of Particle Filter Clogging':- So you will get a message if it isn't able to regenerate after several failed attempts / long periods of idling etc.
"The aim is to encourage the customer to adapt his driving to facilitate particle filter regeneration.
Within 100 kilometres after the message appears, the customer must drive for at least 3 minutes at a speed greater than 50 km/h which should cause the message to disappear.
Failure to comply with this recommendation will lead to the following fault: Clogged particle filter.
The engine management ECU informs the BSI1 which requests activation of the following components :
Ascertaining the required level of regeneration assistance
There are two types of regeneration assistance, depending on the thermal status of the exhaust line :
Level 1 regeneration assistance (cartographic maps for cold exhaust pipe and catalytic converter) (catalytic converter pre-heating, up to 250°C)
Level 2 regeneration assistance (mapping for hot exhaust line. Temperature higher than 250°C)
Level 1 regeneration assistance
When the monitoring function estimates that the soot level is considerable and that the capability of the engine to regenerate the particle filter (driving conditions, temperature, etc.) is sufficient, it requests the activation of the level 1 regeneration assistance.
When each activation request is issued, the engine management ECU carries out the following operations :
The principle is identical to the level 1 regeneration assistance, but the addition of post-injections allows the temperature of the exhaust gas to be higher.
The change from level 1 to level 2 regeneration assistance depends on the following conditions :
We sometimes forget all the technical wizardry going on under the bonnet - as for the most part customers shouldn't need to be aware of all this - as long as they act on the messages and warning provided.

- Request for activation of electrical consumers (Heated rear screen ; Heated mirrors ; electric cooling fan unit)

- Manipulation of the air mixer

Re: C5 x7 163 Diag
thanks both
Wheeler, I think I just expected a regen to be something obvious, like 60mpg in 3rd for 10 minutes followed by a load of black stuff out of exhaust and a warning on the dash that a regening was taking place.. I dont know why I thought that would happen
but, it seems I have nothing to worry about when looking at the screenshots above.. the regen happens, i never get anti pollution messages, the DPF is almost full, the Eolys has a bit left to go, and all seems ok
Yes Marc, when I dismantled my spare engine, there is a lot of compliacted (to me) pipes and things on it! must be a lot happening when the engine is running.
I will concentrate a little on the other 2 issues with the screenshot.. the 4 ecotech errors, and the log showing engine bay power latch relay fault.. what ever a power latch relay is..

It's a left hand front wishbone up to RPO 11983 and for metallic sprung vehicles not Hydractive. If you want the correct part number John I'll need your VIN, as there are a load of different ones (Aluminium Subframe, Steel Subframe) and each from different years, so best check to be safe.

As for the engine Mount - let me know which part (s)using the identifiers from the diagram and I'll get the part numbers and prices John.

And I suppose it would help if I actually included the diagram John!
If it's Number (1) it's called an 'Anti Torque Link'
If so it is part 1806 H4 and is £73.30 inc. from Citroen

I did wonder
yes that's him.. oops of course an anti torque link! used to be (may be still is) up on the right of the engine on earlier C5's and Xant v6's maybe.. anyway, the engine rocks more than I would like and that part looks pants
have seen that part number on listings..
