Citroen Nemo - Fuel Pressure Sensor

Hi

This is my first post so, please, go easy on me

I was sat in my Citroen Nemo when it seemed to wobble ,then stall.

After a few minutes it stopped again, and would do this a few times before finally I had to resort to calling the RAC.

He waggled a few ECU wires, sprayed a bit of cleaning fluid here and there. It started but not kept running. He towed me home because he said it was intermittent and fault codes were pointing to fuel sensor spikes and the engine shutting down because of the said spikes in the sensor. He advised it could take a few hours and a costly diagnosis and I might want to try changing the Fuel Sensor myself. I asked where it was, he said no idea on this.

Could anyone point me in the direction of this mysterious sensor. I've looked online everywhere and still don't know where it is. Damn, I can't even find a Haynes manual on eBay.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Can you post up your VIN - as we'll need this to determine engine and configuration.

If you prefer to PM it is fine - but remember your VIN is already on public display on the bottom windscreen corner cut out your car.

Further to the above, there are a number of members who own a Lexia diagnostics machine and are willing to use them on other member's cars, sometimes for a small fee.
Not sure how it would work on a Nemo as it is a re-badged Fiat but may be worth asking.

Well for a start, the information was a little ill-advised regarding the Fuel sensor - as this is a 1.4 HDi - so any work on a High Pressure Common Rail system should not be casually approached without a knowledge of the system as the fuel system is obviously under high pressure and therefore potentially dangerous. I'm quite surprised at the RAC for not mentioning that.

In the diagram, part 17 is the High Pressure Fuel Sensor, however, you should also consider the Camshaft position sensor (part number 7). These can also wear and in so doing, can provide weak signals to the injection ECU (Camshaft Position Sensors determine engine position based on the location of the camshaft: engine position is used for determining injection and ignition sequence.)

Ideally, it would be better to have it on a Lexia - possibly with the S.1279 module, as this was a jointly developed vehicle with Fiat and may require the add-on module to properly interrogate the vehicle. Then, an accurate manufacturer - specific fault code can be obtained and troubleshoot the correct component. Replacing sensors can be a waste of money if the correct fault is not identified.

It might be worth your while getting it to a Citroen Dealer who has access to the correct diagnostic module for the Nemo - unless you have a trusted mechanic who knows these vehicles.

Thanks for that advice/info Marc, I'm not even sure I can get to that easily, even if it wasn't a potentially dangerous fix. It's due various filters so I'll start with that if I can fumble my way through so that I can limit any costly 'other' problems a garage might try to put on a 'bill'.

The RAC said it was potentially an easy fix so thank God I decided to come here first.

Can I add, it was basically just a case of waggling a few wires that seemed to get it started, if that sheds any light on the problem.

If you or anyone has any other ideas whilst I'm organising a service pack I'll check back regularly.

No problem - I only suggest that without a proper diagnostic, it may cost you more in the long run in swapping parts out that may not be the cause. If you can locate a member near you (see Steve's link above my last post (Myglaren) - that will take you to the member list with Lexias who may be able to get an initial diagnosis - then you at least have the fault codes to take it further.

Hi again.

I have followed a video on how to even locate this elusive pressure sensor and I can't find it anywhere.

I removed the battery and battery tray, had a poke around, made sure everything was plugged in that should be and made sure they were solid connections, took a picture or two to see if I was in the right area, but all I seemed to have found is a preheater part. Can anyone tell me where this pressure sensor is in relation to my pics.

The good thing (to me anyway) was that the engine fault light that was off, after a reset by the RAC man has now reappeared and after putting everything back again I managed to get the car started without a hitch, it lasted about 10 minutes and I observed engine revs spike and then the car chugged and died again.

However, you need to get some better diagnostics on it before doing anything else!

Hi new member. Reading though this post. I had 3 various codes on my nemo. I had took it to two places that diagnosed is as a fault on the wiring loom. Common problem. Apparently.

So I purchased a new loom and I have changed the old with new. Great check codes all previous ones gone.

New code !!!! fuel Pressure sensor P0193. And van will now not start.

I’ve checked all connections. No loose connections.

Don’t actually know the location of the fuel Pressure sensor.

Saw the posts above diagrams. Can’t make out exactly where it is is. Could anyone advise ?
