Replacment key fobs
Hello All,
Have any of you successfully replaced the outer shell on a 3 button key fob like the one in the pic. I have 2 with my new Picasso, both are worn. I see loads on the usual internet places for sale. I wondered if any of you have done it and can recommended a particular replacment or supplier...
Cheers

I’ve done the 2 button one on the C3 and that was a nightmare. I gave up trying to transplant the key and just ended up replacing the one half of the shell that was all I needed!

Ah, yes, thanks for jogging my memory Marc. I did exactly that with the Berlingo when I couldn't work out how to swap the part with the key blade in! Total nightmare it was.

Those are simple to change.
When you have removed the top half and circuitboard, there is a small pin in the base of the key blade. Use a small punch or something else that works and drive it out. Now the blade is free! Just don't loose that tiny pin.
Fit the blade in the new fob ant tap the pin in. The rest is the reverse of removal.

I have various repair handbooks and wiring diagrams for C5 mk1, Xantia, XM, Berlingo and C3 mk1.

I guess we'll all be sending our fobs over to Sweden for you to fix then!
I don't recall seeing a pin - but next time it needs doing I'll remember that.

Yep there is a pin. You have to hold the blade at an angle to see it. It took some force for me to get it out but it will come. I uses a thin nail, 3 hands would be useful when trying to get the pin out lol. I did it with my C4 key.

I bought one of these https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2518440025
Makes it so much easier to get the pin out with just 2 hands, there are little magnets in it to for catching the tiny little pins when they drop out.

Re: Replacment key fobs
I have done this twice for a C4 three button key and not too difficult. As said above punch out the pin with a nail or even a punch! I rested the key over a pair of pliers as I drove the pin out.

I've got a watch repairer's toolkit with a similar looking thing in to the one wheeler pointed out, I shall try to use that when the fobs arrive.

I'm wondering if a bike chain link splitter will do the job too...

Not much use to a normal person, but very useful to, say, a garage mechanic.GiveMeABreak wrote: 05 Nov 2017, 23:42Crikey - I've seen it all now - a gizmo for removing the pin from a key fob - incredible.wheeler wrote: 05 Nov 2017, 22:52 I bought one of these https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2518440025

I have, in my home toolkit, a phone repair toolset with a tool that looks like it can push pins out. I will bring it with me on Wednesday (if I remember).
