What do you think .....................?

Post by KennyW »

Hi All,

I was thinking of obtaining steel rims for winter tyres and fitting to my C5 x 7.

But found that there are only 16" rims available where as I have 17" alloys fitted at the moment.

Tyres on 16" are 205/55/16 and on 17" 225/55/17.

My spare is a 17" steel retail from citroen £97 each where as 16" are £49 each.

Thoughts please.

I would just switch the winter tyres over using the same rims - that way you maintain your TPMS warning and don't have to faff about with that. Either that or get some Michelin Cross Climate summer tyres with winter certification. I have these on all year round and are fantastic. They are available in the same size as the standard tyres.

Oponeo supply C6 steels, which I think will fit the C5 X7....but I could be wrong! :)

It was a thought but I've gone for all season tyres as winter approaches and Uniroyals bought last summer on last legs. Wearing on outer edge of offside and nearside front tyres.

Not unexpected. as I have done approximately 25,000 miles in that time.

Local breakers or Facebook marketplace car pages for a spare set of matching wheels?then pop the tyres on them? I picked up a set of alloys with 3 brand new tyres on for £80!
