That was pretty impressive! I think he's had a fair bit of practice and I must admit I found the sidelights so much easier second time around, now I know the proper orientation of things, I'm expecting when I get my nightbreakers in the post, they too will prove far easier to fit second time round. Not sure I could record it so clearly at the same time though.

Recent lightbulb moment:

Wanting to fit +130 bulbs to the C4 Picasso, looking about at the general layout of things, got all modern and used smart-ish phone camera in 'selfie' mode to have a look around. Screen and camera both point forwards so it s sort of mirror with self adjusting brightness and a bigger screen. Took a couple of photos to look at over a coffee so I could have a think before I started.

Earlier painful experience:

Changing a bulb on my old SAAB, spring went ping and got away from me, they can pop out at the 'hinge' end if you squeeze the wrong bit. Took over an hour to find it. If working from above I now put something like a tea towel underneath it all to catch things.

A tip for fitting any such difficult lamp is to run it at reduced voltage (so it doesn't get too hot) while fitting it. That way it illuminates the area you need to see while you're doing the job.

Mike

How much did you pay for a set of nightbreakers and where from?

Cheers

My local ECP had them on "offer" for £14 but were out of stock. I found them on ebay for the same price.

hi i saw the video on replacing the bulb and it is handy to watch it first .i have replaced the same bulb on my old c5 2002 year with no problem its much the same job ,any way i did the job to day and it was a pig of a job to do i just could not remove the retaining spring that holds the bulb in .i used a mirror to see what i was doing but working through a mirror is a night mare after 2 hours and very sore fingers well one finger as only one will reach the retaining spring .in the end i found there was a another rubber cover just above the main large cover that has to be removed to get to the bulb and it helped me to see down to the bulb retaining spring and i could see to use a small set of pliers to remove the clip .i have replaced bulbs be for with no problems but this spring was very tight and with out getting the pliers on it i would not have done it . the man in the video was unbelievable .don't be fooled its a sod of a job .

They are quite easy to do if you have a pair of long nosed pliers. Philip H6Ws

Do they just push in or twist?

They have offset pins so are push and twist for the bulbs, but you can pull the bulb holder with the wire out of the headlamp to fit it

Seems to me it is super easy to do and don't need any advance level equipment. I think it will take around 30-40 minutes to replace it.
