I've noticed quite a few posts have got missing photos these days. At first I thought it was due to a very enthusiastic and to-the-letter application of the 'photo uploading rules', but even ones I've uploaded attributed to 'Own Work' have gone. Other member's posts are also affected. Clicking on the (dead) photo link only goes to a page with : The selected attachment does not exist anymore.

Re: Missing photos
Can you try to actually upload the same file again? It would be useful to see if it now uploads properly now.
You will recall the hosting company had a major hardware failure on one of the Hard drives this month that affected us amongst others - we have now been moved onto a better hardware node - however we lost at least a day's worth of posts in October as a result of the outage, so some of the posts will be lost. However, it is also possible that where the post may exist, the images may not, The images are uploaded to a different part of the server and linked back to the post. If the link has become corrupt - or the image itself is no longer there, it simply has nothing to display.
This has happened to some of my Photobucket hosted images that were converted - as I spot these, I have gone in and uploaded them direct to the forum from a backup I had before I zapped my PB account. All the images are displaying ok now.

Re: Missing photos
It looks like the file restoration may have missed some photos that were uploaded between October 1 and October 7. I will attempt to recover them.

Re: Missing photos
I have restored a batch of pictures that were "lost" during the server outages. Let me know if you notice any others missing.

A handful missing from the Classic Car Autumn thread over in The Lounge - including some of your own ! Should make tracking them easier

Re: Missing photos
I think that I can restore these from a backup archive, but it may take a few days to get around to sorting it out.

I shall soon be extracting the necessary from the last monthly backups and uploading them so that Mike can work his magic

Re: Missing photos
I have now restored a set of files that had failed to get transferred to the new server, which seems to have fixed the issues noted above.
I did note that in one case a post that quoted an earlier post with an uploaded attachment did not display the quoted attachment properly, I am not sure if that was an issue with the quoting, an artefact of the missing files or a software bug, I have manually fixed that one (by editing the quote), but let me know if similar examples are spotted.
