Creaking noise

Unread post by Quackers »

Not sure if this is a common issue as they age or if its just something wrong with mine but i'm getting creaking noises that sound like its coming from just behind the drivers footwell area, since it was only at low speed i was hearing it, normally when parking up or doing an manoeuvre i thought it was the pedals at first but its not.

Just wondering if this sounds like something anyone else has had with their Activa at some point ?

My Activa has always creaked at low speed and I never ever managed to find out why... I gave up in the end and lived with it...

I wondered that but mine seemed to always emanate from the strut tops and I always suspected it might be the rubber in them being a bit vocal...

My Activa creaked too, and like Jim I gave up on worrying about it. I lubed the struts, checked the strut tops, steering rack, control rods.. all fine.

My mate Pete's also creaked!

 No, but in my experience the noise can come and go at random...

Interestingly, yes.. I've had it on one of my V6s...

All others, and I've had enough of them over the years, have generally been quiet in this respect...

The first Xantia I had back in 2003 was an M plate TD SX. It used to creak alarmingly sometimes. My P reg TD estate used to do it, but only after a long drive. Like a big sigh!

My experience with creaking on most Citroens has usually been the rear suspension bearings but there would normally be other warning signs.

This is very true Peter but the sort of creaking I'm thinking of is a different sort of creaking and comes from the front of the car...

Always worth eliminating the rear bearings from enquiries though ;)

It's a different sort of creaking Peter, often akin to .. erm.. imagine a big heavy wooden door in a horror film creaking open or a big old farm gate. It's not the crackety-creak of arm bearings
