www.howmanyleft.co.uk Citroen Xantia 1996 TD

Unread post by romie »

Hi, apologies not very mechanicy, but I was looking at the HowManyLeft website, thought it was interesting and was wondering if the figures there are realistic for my poor old Citroen Xantia 1996 Estate with 323,000 miles on the clock?

Any idea what the relationship of 'Licensed' and 'Sorn' would be?
For my exact make and model, apparently 7 Licensed, 9 SORN.
So 7 licensed, (on the road with road tax)?
9 SORNed, (Registered off road without road tax)?

Or is that 7 licensed, 9 of which SORNed (but that would make it a negative number).

So does that make mine 1 of only 7 left on the road?

I believe that licensed and SORN are separate statistics.

7 on the road and taxed
9 declared off-road at the time of the report - which means they could at some time be taxed and back on the road (especially if being repaired / restored)

That seems a suspiciously low figure to me, given how popular and ubiquitous they were just a short while ago...

Bear in mind that this figure is specifically for that exact model and does not include the XANTIA 1.9 TURBO D LX or SX or other trim levels Jim.

Full Xantia List here unfiltered:

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=?&q=xantia

i.e. in June 2017, there were 77 licensed of the above model in 'LX' trim and 177 SORN

That's a bit more like it Marc :) Still an amazingly high rate of attrition though :(

yup, as mentioned this was for my exact make and model

I was just checking and the VIN through the Citroen site, and it says it's this, "XANTIA 5 DOOR ESTATE 1.9 TD Manual gearbox 5"

It's interesting how my half the mileage younger Ford Tourneo is falling apart like butter in a pan.
Just goes to show what galvanising and sealing does for a chassis :/

I think the interesting thing is to look at Xania's as a whole, from a peak of 131k in 2001 there are only just over 2k taxed now.
in fact we're losing so many I wouldn't mind betting it will be closer to the 1 thousand mark in a year or two?
