C5 X7 Suspension Problem

Unread post by andyhugill »

Hi,

Had the suspension not working, drive below 55mph message come on yesterday. Found the pump to be not running when needed. I've followed the forum advice and checked the maxi fuses and they are okay. Also have removed the pump and removed motor cover and it's all clean inside and brushes have loads of life. I've also connected it directly to 12v and the motor and pump is running fine. The pump did have slight weep of fluid whenever it operated but it's never caused a problem and just needed topping up every few months. The car doesn't seem to be giving power to the pump to operate.

Has anybody got any ideas before i take it to the dredded dealer?

This is the 3rd C5 i've had and had nothing but trouble with this one in the 8 months i've had it. Thought they would have got better with new models.

Cheers

Do you have a lexia to see what codes if any are being returned - you could be on a wild goose chase otherwise. Have you checked the earths?

Can I presume you are aware the hydraulic pump also is fused on fusebox B in the glovebox yes, there are three boxes here, the obvious one you see when you remove the cover and then two fuse boards above you have to lie in the footwell to really see. I'd give you the fuse number G37 but citroen do not mark them on the box. The fuse you need is on the right hand (vertical) fuse box (they are top to bottom 10A, 3A, 10A, 3A. The hydraulic pump is the top 10A fuse.

G37 is actually for the daytime running lamps on some models - G39 is for the Hydraulic suspension Mike :-D

The location below is shown in the stowage drawer on a left hand Drive, but for a right hand drive will be in the passenger glovebox compartment. Fuse box B is to the right - just inside the recess
