C5 I central display broken?

Unread post by Willemies »

Hi there,

recently my C5 2001 battery went bad and caused the engine immobilizer to activate (before changing the new battery). I tried to start the car multiple times and opened up windows many times etc... Suddenly the central display screen went blank, the lights are on but there is nothing visible in the screen.

Do you think the screen itself is broken or BSI or what could be the reason? Please, help the poor student [-o<

Welcome to the forums :welc:

Did you use the recommended battery change/BSI reset procedure?
Not that that should affect the display.

If you have a breaker's yard near you with one then they are a straight swap - which trim level do you have?

Hi and thanks!

Just tried that reset again, no difference. There is not a breakers yard near me, but I found second hand units a bit far away, probably gonna order one. I really hope its just the display unit, its only 45€ + postage... I think everything else works, radio is fine and working, though sometimes it stays on even after locking the car...

Not sure about the trim level, you mean the exact vehicle version? Its C5 2001 2.0L petrol automatic, dont remember the exact name...

LX, SX, VTR etc.
The displays differ according to model.

Problem solved, the display was broken, got a used one for 45€ so it was kind of cheap fix, yay :)

The reason I decided to get the new screen is because I just got my Lexia and it showed no faults for BSI, so I assumed it wasnt broken.

Glad it's fixed but, gosh, that's expensive. Unless it was the special colour screen for the C5 with Satnav (quite rare) I wouldn't have expected to pay more than £5. £10 at the absolute max.

Scandinavian/Norden prices can come as quite a shock compared to what we are used to.

Not Ebay, visiting car breakers in person. Possibly not an option for everyone.

Having said that the display was fitted to many models in the Peugeot/Citroen range. From personal experience the same display was fitted to the Xsara (wife's ex-car) and 206 (daughter's car). I've no doubt many more.
