Upgrade to CD

Hi Folks...
I have a Xantia VSX TD of 93 vintage and wish to upgrade my stereo to a CD unit but would still like the steering wheel controls to work.
Is this possible ? and if so any idea's

yeh thats is really straight forward, the adaptor plate for the fascia is about a tenner from citroen, and the interface unit for the steering wheel is in the region of 40 quid, any good car stereo place should do them, even halrords probs will, £40 max tho,

I put my pioneer head unit in when I bought a xant 3-4 months ago, facia plate cost £17 from halfords, instructions were clear and easy to understand, the problem was stuffing the wiring loom behind the stereo(not a lot of space y see) save yourself a lot of time and swearing by taping all the spare wires up into a nice small and tidy bundle befor you start and don't fully tighten the screws on the plate till everythings sitting nice and flush and looks right.
The top right of my facia would not sit correctly unless I pushed the stereo nearly all the way in before tightening the screws.
Sounds complicated but its not really and you will know what I mean when you do the job.

Yet again i cheated on my ZX and just bought a plug in CD unit, however i did change the original RC player to a Ford RDS item (using an adaptor plate off eBay for £4) and there isnt a lot of room to play with the wiring. But, here is the important bit, you can but almost any stereo to wiring loom adaptor from motorist accessory shops and the ICE specialists that advertise in mags like Max Power. i got a Ford to ISO (citroen) connector and everything works peachy.

On my '93 SX I was happy with everything about the old stereo but just wanted CD as well. Added a Sony Discman personal type player for about £60 and that has proved ideal for me. It sits in the tray forward of the gear lever and produces an excellent sound through the standard cassette adaptor device.

Be carfull that there is a stearing control loom avalable for your new head unit. To my knowlage there are only 2 avalable one fits the Sony the other fits Blaukpukt make units.
if there is one for Pioneer it would be really usefull you know (both my xantias have pioneer head units)!

Not all head units support remote controls, so you'll need to check that first. Car Audio Discount have a pretty good selection of steering wheel adaptors, check out http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/acatalo ... s_158.html (though I would question the Discount part of their name :-/)
If you're getting a Kenwood unit, http://www.justkenwood.co.uk are about the best that I've found, and where I ordered from; adaptor leads for about £30 with free delivery.
