Morning, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any assistance:
I have a Peugeot boxer van (2000). From what I can gather online the engine is 2.5 TD PSA THX (107 PS (79 kW; 106 hp) @ 4,000 rpm) - this engine appears to have been available between 1998 -1999, and then again in 2000. From what I can understand the engine code is DJ5TED - however I am not sure about this. I've been told on more than one occasion that this engine is very rare and I should consider replacing the vehicle altogether, however this is not an option.
This engine is very tired and Peugeot South Africa and France no longer carry any replacement parts. I have found parts on eBay e.g. Engine Gasket Set for Peugeot Boxer 2.5 TDI (DJ5TED) THX 107 PS. When I ask the suppliers whether this is a match the response is that this will only fit a 'TDI' not a TD which just confuses me. Can anyone help me understand whether parts listed coded as DJ5TED will be suitable for my engine or are there variations within this code?
A second question, is whether anyone knows of a more common Peugeot engine with more spares available that I could do a conversion with; again the guys at Peugeot are saying this is not possible at all. I read somewhere on this forum that there may be a 1.9 engine that might be possible.
Many thanks, Nigel.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
The best thing is to post your VIN code and then we can ascertain the exact model you have and the part numbers for any spares.
Bear in mind that we are in Europe and part availability may differ depending on country, but at least you will be able to search for the correct parts for your van with the part numbers from a wider range of spares sellers.

Thanks for the responses so far. The VIN number is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Any advice on how to better search for parts would appreciated.

That VIN is not quite right - it should start VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] and be 17 alphanumeric sequence. It is usually found at the bottom left hand corner of the windscreen in a little window looking from the outside.

If it is a Pug , so will start VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]... but does seem a digit short.

Good Point Mike, but also seems there should be some more letters at the beginning too.

Re: Aftermarket Parts for Peugeot 2.5 TD (PSA THX)
Around that time LDV vans were using a 2.5 Peugeot engine in their bigger vans and a 1.9 Peugeot engine in the smaller ones, they moved on to fitting a Ford diesel engine shortly after
Maybe that would be an something to consider.
I believe there were a lot of LDVs and Transits exported to SA.

Re: Aftermarket Parts for Peugeot 2.5 TD (PSA THX)
Is that possibly a SOFIM (Iveco/Fiat) engine as fitted to the Ducato van? These engines in various sizes were used by Fiat, Iveco, Peugeot, Citroën and Renault. It appeared originally in 2.5 and 2.8 litres. One of the identifying features is that the power steering pump is fitted low down at the front and is towards the van chassis rather than along the side of the block. The mark 1 ducato used a fiat (SOFIM) engine. The Peugeot equivalent used a Citroën 2.5 diesel (not Peugeots xd3). This engine has an accessory drive belt on the gearbox end of the engine. The mk2 ducato (1993 to 2006) and the Peugeot boxer along with the Citroën relay/ jumper used engines from both manufacturers but each labelled them as their own. For instance a Fiat Ducato 2.0jtd is actually a Peugeot 2.0hdi engine. A boxer 2.8hdi is actually a fiat 2.8jtd or 2.8 multijet. In short I think you have a SOFIM engine commonly called a fiat engine. Perhaps if you could post pictures someone will identify it.

I don't think that the OP is confused about which engine he has, he is just having trouble finding a source of parts for it.

Re: Aftermarket Parts for Peugeot 2.5 TD (PSA THX)
Greetings all, this conversation is very interesting. The VIN was a digit short, my apologies. The number is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] (the 2 before the J was missing).
I'm sure it's a PSA engine not Iveco, because I imported a new top end without the hanging parts from Poland a year ago, and that was the engine reference the supplier gave me PSA THX).
The part of this engine currently causing me a headache is a vacuum pump which is fitted on the right hand side of the engine head. The pump is driven by a gear/sprocket on the cam shaft. I don't know what this pump is called. The gasket leaks and I'm trying to locate a new one, as well as an entire engine gasket set while I'm at it.
Is there a way I can post pics of the engine on this forum?
Thanks all.
