Found this towbar electrical kit whilst trawling through Ebay. Obviously I'm hoping it'll fit my X7 but does it? How clever is it? Does it recognise when a plug is inserted and send instructions to disable/modify the reversing sensors and brake balance?

And a supplementary question - why should it be for the estate and not saloon as well?
Which C5 does this fit?

Re: Which C5 does this fit?
Not sure, but it is not the same as my X7 kit, the ECU is much bigger for the X7, therefore, I think it is either for the Mk1 or Mk2 estate

Re: Which C5 does this fit?
If you can PM your VIN, I can probably find out the one you actually need, which is a lot easier than trying to reverse find the car this one fits. There are quite a few different ones to take account of the different electronic architecture / ECUs and features of the cars and are shared with Peugeot. The BSR EV supplied with the harness needs to be the right one to interface with the car most likely.

Thanks Marc but VIN will probably have to wait a week or two as the car is in the UK and I am not! I'm just wondering if I've posted it up anywhere - I will check.

I've found it Paul, you sent a picture some time ago on another query (should be manual, with black pearlescent paint) 24/10/2013.
So the correct one listed for you is 9428 F7

Re: Which C5 does this fit?
Cheers Marc, that's excellent. I did look through the PMs but I didn't think to look at or for any photos.
I'll compare the instructions with those I've got for the Westfalia towbar and see if can understand the whole. I can see that I'm going to have to fit a damn 13-pin socket rather than a 7-pin socket which does not please me. Extra expense for an adaptor loom.
Just wish I'd done this a couple of months ago when I had access to a decent printer and turn it into a folded A3 booklet.

No problem. Incidentally, I just checked the current UK price from Citroen and 9428 F7 is £82.43 Ex or £98.92 Inc. VAT
