Afternoon all,
It's been about 4 years since Sylv's ZX has been on the road. We cannot remember the code for the life of us.
It states in the manual that it locks for 30 minutes but it doesn't. It locks for probably about 15 minutes.
We've tried all the ones we think it is. Perhaps I should start writing down every attempt and rule it out for next time. This could take a long time.
Is there anyway of finding or changing the code with a Lexia? The ZX has limited connectivity in terms of what it will read though I have to admit I can't remember if I've ever plugged it in. I know I have my old Xantia which gives hardly any information you can't guess.
When I press the numbers, each press causes a beep. Before any keys are pressed the light is red. According to the manual this just means the immobiliser is active. Once I have entered a four digit code, it pauses before the green light comes on (along with the steady red) which shows the wrong code has been entered.
It was a long time ago but when the correct code is entered, does the red light extinguish and you get a solid green light?
Thanks in advance though I am not entirely sure where this will end. If necessary, send PM.
I certainly don't want to have to take the pump off to remove the armour and bypass. Would love to get it working again.
I suppose there is only 10,000 combinations to go through.

Re: Forgotten ZX Immobiliser Code
I don't think there's any official way of recovering the code. Red and green lights together is indicative of a power or earth fault though I think - if the wrong code is entered then it should beep and display red only. It is 10 years since I had one of these though!

Which engine does it have? This will govern your more serious options. There is no easy solution.

Re: Forgotten ZX Immobiliser Code
Thanks for the replies.
All sorted now. Kept disconnecting the battery and trying different codes that we thought it might be.
Prime the diesel circuit. Car started first time. Last time was around October/November 2013. Not bad, is it?
Idling very lumpy though. A couple of leaks seem to have developed around two injectors. Will investigate if we put it back on the road.
All the best, all.

Re: Forgotten ZX Immobiliser Code
Very easy to remember the code, in my part of the world most cars have a reg plate which includes 4 numbers.
I just key mine in backwards!

Observing which buttons are slightly worn narrows down the odds considerably.

@citrojim
Would you believe it?
Read above. Looks like we managed to get it started before. I cannot remember ever getting it to start.
