Injector sleeve removal

Post by nigel c »

Got a Xantia 1.9 TD 1995 with a burnt away injector sleeve (the top hat in the head that the injector nozzle fits into).
Does anyone know how to remove the sleeve [?]

A shot of WD40 under normal circumstances usualy gets an instant result, but if its been burning you may be in for a rough time.

I've read in a Haynes Citroen Diesel engine manual - good book by the way, has more detail than the standard Xantia version - that if it's stuck "a blob of grease is used to fill the hole in the sleeve to stip crap going into the piston and a suitable thread shoud be tapped into the sleeve and a bolt skrewed into that and the sleeve jacked out by way of a large washer to bridge the injector hole"
Has any one tried this method ?
My concern is that if it still won't budge after all this I guess the head will have to come off to knock it out from underneath !
