Hi folks, here's a couple of questions for you, my partner has a S1 C5 estate.
Recently there has been a warning display showing up which accompanied with an anoying beep reads " speed too high" this occours when pulling away and around 50mph , as this is the 90bhp HDI, it is near impossible to reach any speed concidered "too high" any ideas ?
Secondly as we all know the load carrying capacity of the C5 is phenominal, and Gail refers to her C5 as the " land yacht" lol, are the load capacities of the the S2 and S3 as generous ? as we may have to "upgrade" dependant on a forthcoming MOT .
Thanks in advance .

Re: C5 fault warning and load capacity questions
First port of call would be checking the artificial speed limiter type function on the on-board computer. If you cycle through the onboard computer function using the button on the end of the (left I think) indicator stalk, you will see a 'speed limiter' function. I have never used it, but I understand you can set it to shout at you if the car exceeds a set speed (although it seems odd that yours is also beeping when pulling off).

Re: C5 fault warning and load capacity questions
This will likely be the overspeed warning on the Series 1. Normally you hold the button in at the end of the left hand stalk over a certain speed to activate the system. Then when you go over the set speed, you get the warning and 'bong'. Now I can't remember off hand whether you hold the button in with a long press to activate it, then a short press when you reach the desired speed to set it. or if it is the other way round - short press to activate, then long press to set speed. Try it anyway, but it should deactivate the same way. I'm sure Myglaren will be able to confirm on his.

Overspeed warning. What a useless piece of technology. I wind that up to 180mph and leave it there so it never bothers me again.

Re: C5 fault warning and load capacity questions
That should be the right hand stalk, a long press on the button turns it off when you're at the 'overspeed on' screen.
I've got the handbook procedure for programming it if you need more.

Re: C5 fault warning and load capacity questions
I heard that somebody once had a C5 Mk1 estate parked up with the tailgate open, and a grizzly bear climbed in and got lost!
One thing you might want to look at adding to the C5 (assuming you are able to keep it) is Cruise Control. You need to check whether the brake pedal has dual switch capability (so there is a second switch to disconnect the Cruise Control when the brakes are applied), and if it has all you then need is a CC Stalk and access to a Lexia.

Sorry Marc, never used it. Or even looked at it more than once on my first C5 (estate). Had a bit of a poke at it, nothing seemed to do anything so gave up.
Only the 30mph one until it gets tiresome.

Re: C5 fault warning and load capacity questions
Cheers for info folks, i'll attempt to get this rectified asap
BTW any info on carrying capacity would be appreciated, as the S2 and S3 appear more "streamlined" in the load carrying area, or is this an optical illusion ?
Cheers Paul

Re: C5 fault warning and load capacity questions
The Mk2 C5 estate should surely be the same as the Mk1 as they share the same rear end. The Mk3 is a different bodyshell and I was prepared for it to be worse than the old Mk1 but I was quite surprised that, in practical terms, it isn't.
Volumetrically Citroen might have managed to engineer a smaller load space into a larger bodyshell but what there is is eminently useable. The shape is very square and items pack in very nicely. The Mk1 (and Mk2) have some curved shapes that are difficult to fill in efficiently.
