After finding numerous questionable pipes on my Activa while doing the ram repair job, I thought I'd better get some replacements. I didn't have time to wait for pipes to arrive from Pleiades, and had no luck with finding one on here (see here - https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... =3&t=57895 ). So instead I bought a suspension pipe flaring tool, and some 3.5mm and 4.5mm kunifer to go along with it. I always love a new tool to play with, and thought the forum might like to see how easy it is to make your own pipes with the right tool!
So far six pipes have been changed on the Activa, and I'm happy knowing that if any others need doing, I can do them there and then without needing to order anything else, perfect!
Thanks for looking.

Dom, which tool did you buy? I've seen some of definitely questionable quality that produced very poor flares...

Jeez, I bought exactly one of those kits about 30 years ago for doing brake lines. Your one seems identical. Must find where I put mine !

Me too, not for Citroen but the universal 1970's Uk car brake pipe size. Came across it last week, along with a tube of flaring lubricant - a sort of oil paste. I see this fancy new one, which looks excellent, is used dry. Almost makes me wish I had a Xantia so I could buy myself one and go flare some pipes!

Hello chaps. Sorry about the slow reply I've had a busy week working on my Activa, and then I've been in work ever since!
The flare tool is this one here and i bought the kunifer from euro car care in derby (who also sell pre flared pipes if anyone needs it)

Excellent Thanks Dom...
My next Citroen-related tool purchase... I'm sure one or the other of mine will one day soon need pipes...

Re: For anyone interested in Citroen flare tools (and how it works)
Thats a tool I would very much like too.
Are dies available for it that do the smaller hydraulic pipes?
The seller has 6.35mm as well but not less than 3.5.
Or am I making a mistake and the lillte Lhm pipes need a different tool entirely?

The good news James is that I've found my brake flaring tool - the same type as Dommo's If you can find the Citroen dies, then you're welcome to borrow mine ........providing you're still on the South coast

Awesome, thank you.
I have no need for one yet but that may well be a bit of a car saver in the future.

Yep, mine was an abtools purchase as well. It's a quality bit of kit, albeit the case tangs aren't welded on the best on mine.
And yes you can buy all sorts of different dies for it, for different size pipes and different style flares.
Just to note that abtools also have stands at the big classic car shows, e.g. in Brum, so you may be able to pick them up there, with show discounts? (I didn't check on the stand last year, since I already have one )

Re: For anyone interested in Citroen flare tools (and how it works)
Hi, thank you for sharing this video. Just as a matter of interest, should the depth gauge next to the die not have been used first, before actually forming the pipe, or I’m I confused?
King regards, Joe.
