I have been out of my depth before - but never this far.
We need some diagnostics on the Xantia, my Mechanic uses an OBD2 and has asked mt to get a 30 pin to OBD adapter.
From what I have read so far I know I don't know what I'm talking about but I do know that the advice from this forum is that this won't work and that I should get a Lexia.
So far so good and I know eBay is my friend, what I don't know is what I should be buying to give my guy what he needs.
Would some kind soul please look at eBay, find a seller who has what I need (preferably as cheap as possible), send me the URL and say 'Buy that one"
The problem is not all that serious so I can wait until The Royal Mail can get it over to me!
Thanks in anticipation

OBD2 Diagnostics will not work on any Xantia.. You need a Lexia...
Many Lexia clones are available on eBay but not all work on a Series 1 with the 30-way Brown diagnostic plug...
I cannot recommend any particular one but hopefully someone on here can.

Also beware - many of the 30 pin to OBD-II adaptor cables supplied with Lexia clones do not work! They are incorrectly wired.
Finding one that does work could prove challenging, so it is best to stick to a recommended seller.

Your other option is to look for a second-hand ELIT diagnostic machine complete with adaptor and 30-way diagnostic lead.. This remains my preferred tool for early Xantias...
One of these:
This one is complete with the correct lead...
They can be expensive but worth the money... I'd be lost without mine...

Re: citroen xantia 1 diagnostic tools
I-ve been searching for an elit machine for donkeys and having no luck!
The 30pin adapters are a complete lottery, you're very unlikely to get one that works (talks to all ecu's) on your car I'm afraid.
One day I will hack my pair about so at least one lead talks to all the ecu's I can communicate with (which still isn't all of them) from just one lead... Yet to find out what the correct additional pin outs would be to communicate with the remaining ecu's.
