Maxi Fuse, each unit's function

Post by AlvinCitroenC5 »

Hi,

Can someone let me know what each maxi-fuse location does. I am having trouble finding what each location connects.

My radiator fan is currently not working, thus, before removing a melted fuse there I want to ensure I know what fuse location does what.

Thank you.

MF1 (the 50amp fuse on the furthest left - the one you are pointing at in that pic) is the radiator fuse.
If that fuse has blown, before you replace it, check that the fan isn't seized/turns freely - it's quite a common problem on these, as they get older.
Also check for corrosion on the plugs/relay connectors inside the black plastic box to the right hand side of the radiator fan (when viewed from in front of the car)

I have just had mine out - bought a new 40A fuse as I was under the impression that this was the value for the radiator fan.
I should have one here as I bought a spare when fitting the electric seats but couldn't find it, wanted one on hand before disconnecting the battery.

I have no idea which does what unfortunately.
While the battery was disconnected checked every fuse in the car as the front fag lighter socket died a few weeks ago (load of small screws fell into it.
All fuses were intact and now the glovebox light works again but fag lighter still dead.
Lost the actual fag lighter years ago and only use it for the satnav and USB phone charger/temperature and voltage display.

Much appreciate the explanation. However, notice that on my car's fuse box, there is no fuse in the ignition spot, but my engine did run. Is there a difference between my car and yours? I find that my car was worked on by a butcher before, so if this is not proper, I rather thanks the time to re wire the car properly. Thanks.

Odd that mine has a fuse in position 3.
I have only inserted the two fuses for the electric seats - MF4 & MF5. The rest are as they came with the car.
