My C5 does this every now and then and it's always been EGR related. An ecu reset gets rid of it for a couple of months. Ideally I'd imagine your EGR valve needs cleaning

We have also had this with our 1.4HDi and that was EGR too, a quick clean of the solenoid connector & "excercising" the valve with a vac. pump got rid of it.

Having said that, ideally you'd want to get it on a Lexia/clone to make sure there's nothing else amiss but checking the EGR connector & pipework costs nothing. I have heard of cases where there was a tiny split in the vacuum hose & cutting the damaged end off/reconnecting cured it.

Also, what engine is this? might make a difference if it's petrol or diesel.

I can confirm (if it is a vacuum system) that a tiny hole in the rubber pipe will cause this problem (although other things can as well). Mickeymoon, when he took a look at my C5, found a tiny hole in the rubber pipe between the EGR and the steel pipe on the bulkhead. Fortunately it was at one end (about 1cm in), so he trimmed it back, connected the pipe back, and it has not complained since.

It could be anything... needs to go on Diagbox to see what it's upset about. Where are you?
