Carefully massaging the Citroen deal figures, I managed to secure a very acceptable deal on an I40. The call of the Citroen was still strong though, and I returned to their showroom triumphantly waving the Hyundai "improved offer" In my greedy little mitt!
After much to-ing and fro-ing, cajoling the manager and threatening to return to Hyundai, the Citroen manager not only equalled , but beat the opposition with a final offer to tax the DS5, and to administer and pay the fee to transfer my cherished number. From the original offer, I squeezed a further £200 for my C5 P/Ex. I get a 1 year Citroen approved warranty, a machine polish (the car, not me) full valet and a tank of diesel.
2013 Citroen DS5 2.0l D/ Sport Auto with manual sequential change if required. Usual refinements like full leather elec, heated seats, panoramic three part glass roof etc.
I took an hours test drive and found it much quieter than my C5, decent ride even without hydro susp.
Time will tell, and it will be a steep learning curve. First thing to remember? The fuel filler is on the nearside!. Next Thursday is the changeover.
