Particulate Temperature Sensor fault - need I worry?

Post by Sloppysod »

Hi All,
I filled my car up yesterday with diesel in a local supermarket garage (Asda), yes I know some people say supermarket fuel is rubbish, but all Fuel in the UK is made to the same standard.

Anyway, I drove home, 1 mile, left the car for an hour or so then went out again, 1/2 mile up the road I got the alarm 'Bong' and the error message "Engine Fault Repair Required". The fault this morning was my Particulate Temperature Sensor Fault, error report below, I have cleared the fault and am now waiting for it to reappear, so need I worry or is it likely to be just a random fault, I suppose only time will tell
INJ : Engine management ECU
.......P2032 : particle emission filter temperature sensor.

Needs an Italian Tune.

The one time I have had that on my present car was on hard(ish) acceleration when cold.

Yes I guess so!! - if I had not had my diagbox kit, it would have cost around £70 just to be told, "nothing wrong mate!!"

Mine has just had a couple of days being difficult with the central locking.
Had to help rescue my son when his motorbike first refused to start at the petrol station, then the throttle control fell off.
Went to get tools from my boot and it wouldn't open.
Driver's door the same.
Key just turned in the lock for a while.

After restarting it access to the boot was OK but driver's door continued to be difficult - 'fixed' by not locking the car.
All OK again now without actually doing anything to it.

If the DPF temp sensor fault recurs, unplug the sensor (back of the engine - a bit awkward) and withdraw and check the cable. I had the same intermittent fault due to the cable chafing and wearing through the insulation - easy fix once found!

Thanks, will do that just to make sure nothing is wrong - added to my next scheduled check.
