2005 407hdi 130 limp mode

Post by Silverfox1969 »

Hi i recently had a new dual mass fitted and upon collection from the garage my car was in limp mode...they pluged it in but no error codes showed up..
After lots of head scrathing they unplugged the maf sensor and all was back to normal although engine fault was illuminated, have today changed senor but still goes into limp mode when plugged back in, also can hear loud whistiling from turbo unit which sounds like a dump valve when going up or down gears????
Any ideas.?

Could they have left an intake pipe loose creating a boost leak, not sure what pipework needs shifting when removing the gearbox on these but maybe they've left something loose or cracked a pipe... Worst case, have they knocked a hole in the intercooler when dropping the 'box?

That was my thoughts but cannot see any visable broken pipework from the engine bay so need to get it up in the air and drop the guards for a proper look..

I'd ask the garage put it back in the condition it came to them in, obviously if it's cracked/split rubber or plastic due to age it's reasonable to expect to pay for that to be replaced but I'd think it's more likely they forgot to tighten a hose clip or similar. If you can get under it yourself and check so much the better but by right the garage should have a look for you if it was fine prior to their work on it.
