2000 berlingo speedo temp gauges not working

Post by Barry berlingo »

Hi I'm new to this forum and id like to jump straight in and pick your brains.
I'm sure my question has come up and I will look at some old threads, but would like to narrow down my search.
I recently bought a 2000 berlingo pope wagon for work. It was under £400 so was expecting issues
And they are as follows
Some lights on dash not working
Speedo not working
Temperature gauge temperamental (not over heating)
Fuel gauge very slow to register that there is fuel in the tank
Central locking not working but can live with that.
The link below is a very quick clip of me starting the van and driving it into my close and onto the driveway.
Hopefully someone here will watch it and point me in the right direction on which threads to look up

Thanks in advance for any help/advice I will follow up and post the fix onto here ,if I can get to the bottom of it

A couple of things I forgot to mention which may or may not be relevant
The mileage is working fine
Also I've had to fix the leaking areal and also I took two big hand full's of crud out of the engine bay drain holes by the windscreen.

Lights on the dash is probably just bulbs.
Fuel Gauge I'm not sure about, maybe the float in the tank isn't sitting right or the contacts are dirty.
Speedo I would guess is electronic on that year, could be the sensor, but it's weird that the mileage is working as I'd expect them both to use the same sensor. Maybe check you don't have a loose connector on the instruments when you replace the bulbs.
Whats tempramental about the temp gauge? Can't get it from the video.

Sound like you have a water damaged BSI the leaking areal and the blocked drain holes all help to bugger up the BSI. Its under the drivers side footwell usually. You need to check it for water damage. Now here is the problem you can go to Citroen but £300+ is usual because they replace the BSI then reprogram it, or send it away for repair. If you take the repair option they usually have to delete all the info off the BSI to do a water damaged repair that means you need a lexia clone to reprogram it and someone who knows what they are doing.

The click may be along soon to offer some advice that may be useful?

This sounds like it could be the problem I tried to plug my code reader in and it wouldn't make a connection. The pins are corroded, I had a go at cleaning them without any joy.
Is there a quick fix or will I have to bite the bullet and take it to a stealer?
Thanks for the reply

The temp gauge sometimes works sometimes doesn't can go to work 45min drive and it doesn't move, same drive on the way home it will sit happily in the middle

This may sound daft but could I not just get a used bsi from a breakers or eBay and do a straight swap ?
I'm not to hot on the electrical side of tinkering,so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question
