Boot open

Post by nelson »

Hi

My nemo has a boot open warning coming up on the dash

The boot tailgate opens, closes and locks as it should. The inside light goes on and off as it should aswell.

I tried a new micro switch on the locking mechanism and that made no difference.

Citroens seem to have a thing about the locks giving problems :-D

Any one have any suggestions as what I can try next?

Cheers

Does the Nemo have a sliding plastic cover over the hasp (where the lock engages)? On my Xantia I had a problem with the alarm not setting. It turned out that, underneath the cover (which slides up and down the hasp) was a switch with a plunger, and this plunger had broken off, which meant the alarm 'thought' the boot was open.

No sliding covers on the lock. I did wonder if it was something sticking when I first came across the problem. I have had the lock out and can't see anything obvious.

3 wires go to a micro switch (which has been changed out for a new one) 2 wires go to the actuator for the door handle switch and that seems to be working fine.

Sorry, I did not explain myself clearly. Is there a cover around the loop that the lock engages with? As the lock pushes this cover down (so the lock can engage) this cover also may trigger a switch underneath it.

Might be worth checking the loom for damaged wires where it flexes as it goes from the body to the door.

Yes I think I will try that in the morning and see if there are any broken wires inside the rubber cover.

Broken wires found inside the rubber flexible where the wires go from the body to the door.

Not much slack to work with when doing it but joined and all working again.
