405 1.8TD radical Matrix solution??

Unread post by Russell »

Hi all,
I have an oldish 405 estate, worth maybe £800 in good order, and the matrix is leaking. I would prefer to fix the car and keep it a few more years, rather than sell, as it is otherwise pretty good.
I have more time than money, and I'm just considering a radical solution, and would be interested to know if anyone has any helpful suggestions, as keeping the car thermally standard is not something that I care about at all.
I don't want to get into the game of taking the old matrix out via dashboard removal, I'd rather just re-route the heater inlet and outlet hoses to another smallish matrix I can get at if I need too, and blow some air through that to get some heat in the car via the standard ventilation system if I can find the right place to get some heat back in...
That's the proposition. Any ideas on where to site another matrix..?
Within the glove box area perhaps..?
Cheers
Russell
