2007 C4GP 2.0hdi CHECK OIL LEVEL

Post by natedawg8t6 »

Hi All,

On Sunday I got the warning message 'check oil level' on my 2007 C4GP 2.0Hdi. As it was, the oil was bearly on the dipstick - done an oil change 1700miles ago, with no visible signs of leaking.

Anyway, topped the oil up yesterday, dipstick showing plenty of oil now, but still getting the 'check oil level' warning. Ive plugged in a code reader to see if the warning needs clearing but nothing showing for it.

Any help much appreciated.

Some of these sensors can be a bit fussy about what oil is used...

I know that modern cars can be VERY fussy about the oil used in them. Some time back I had a Skoda Octavia (as a company car), and, according to the handbook, could achieve service mileages of 18,000 or more PROVIDED the specified oil was used. It did, occasionally drinking about a litre (as it was getting rid of the crud that had built up somehow), so I got oil that met the specification. A colleague had a similar Octavia, but he was only getting 5,000 miles between service intervals. When I found this out (we were at a training course together) I checked the oil he was using, and while the viscosity was correct, it was definitely NOT the right spec. I suggested that, after the next service, he used the right oil when it needed it. About 6 months later I got a call from him, letting me know that his car had just gone past 10,000 miles (since the last service) and STILL had not turned on the service light.

Ive disconnected the battery for 15mins and reconnected and the oil warning has now gone. Just concerns me abit as to where all the oil had gone in 1700miles with no visible signs on leaks etc.
